About the Role
The Welder is responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks on board ships, ensuring the repair, maintenance, and modification of metal structures and components. Works with various materials, including steel and aluminium, to repair hulls, machinery, pipelines, and other vital ship systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding tasks to repair and maintain the ship’s hull, machinery, and piping
- Weld, cut, and fabricate metal parts and structures
- Repair or replace damaged or worn-out metal parts and equipment
- Conduct welding repairs on components such as exhausts, fuel tanks, deck plates, and engine parts
- Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Leverage knowledge of ship systems, hull structure, and machinery
Requirements
- ITI or diploma or equivalent certification in welding
- 3-5 years of experience as a Welder
- Experience with welding on steel, aluminium, and other shipbuilding materials
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work in a team
